![]() ![]() They just meander about and agree that the email they got is weird, but act as if people telling them that fictional aliens popping up in reality is the norm, and give him the benefit of a doubt. By looking at the smoke from the crashed ship, he's apparently inhaled lethal amounts of the substance and might die soon.Īnyways, to people with actual talent, we cut to our co-star authors (who aren't writing, just giving info) for this story these authors being Herr Wozzeck and Sarge '95 (so far). Sorry members of the International Space Station, you're fucked. And also, 'with nature tamed but not destroyed'? Bitch, you're an Asari, not a fucking Krogan and you've explored dozens of far flung worlds from jungles to tundras, don't give this 'EVERYTHING IS BYOOTIFUL!' Shit.Īlso, by 2011 we apparently have not reached spaceflight. If you hear maniacal laughter right now, that's probably me. She's looking out at the United States freeway, and is amazed at how technology and nature are blending perfectly. If I hadn't found her in our basement, they probably would have taken her, and experimented on her. Not giving them any time to respond, Nick continued, "She's called an Asari she crash-landed her ship here, and the government swarmed the wreckage. Liara, go ahead and pull down that Hoodie." As she did so, both of his parents let out a startled gasp. Nick took a deep breath, before responding, "Mom, dad, you remember that one game that I've been playing for quite a while now, right? The one called Mass Effect, with all those aliens and the big squid-looking thing?" Both of them nod, so Nick continued, "Well, apparently, it isn't as fake as I originally thought. wait, who is that?" Nick took a deep breath, before pulling Liara into the office, and closing the door behind them.Īfter closing the door, Nick's dad spoke up, "Nick, who's that with you? And what are you doing here? I thought you were supposed to be home from school today." "Nick, what're you doing here? It's good to see you. So, without further adieu, here is its summary Īs they looked up, they both saw him, and smiled, as his mom stood up. And speaking if that, I probably should speak of the story. If it did, I wouldn't be here to talk about the story. Suffice to say, it doesn't do so well at keeping our S.I's rein in. The moment the story quits moving in its own and starts revolving around the S.I is in my opinion the moment the story falls apart.Īnd now, in this story, we have this probable risk, repeated 5 times over. You know how to write you but what if you aren't likable to your audience? Or what if you have power fantasies? What do you do? Simple you stop the story, somehow salvage it or (most likely) do something comparable to what I explained in more detail here. Now, I don't hate the S.I Genre far from it! Just look at the masterully written MM SI by luckychaos for proof that the genre of us getting thrown into fiction can be good! But the sad fact is, and I know many will agree with me here, is that Self Insert is a very, very difficult thing to write. ![]() This is very true, especially for one very good reason.Īll the stories this author has, 7 of them (most of them Mass Effect), are Self-Inserts. The last part I respect the rest I don't really care to comment on, but I still find it notable in a good way that this author knows their audience (himself) and that not everyone will like it. There isn't, so this sentence is pointless.Ĭoming in at 34 chapters and 186'556 words (so, if all the chapters were equally sized, 5487 words per chapter), this story is written by the author of bale626, whom has one of the most blunt and honest author profiles I've ever seen. Here is where I would provide a picture of a cover, it there was one. A story simply titled as 'Into The Fire'. They themselves (with permission, duh) were to be in this. Various authors, creators of numerous Mass Effect SI's, would all be in the same story. Specifically in that it was a culmination, of sorts. A story that was, 5 years ago, the buzz of the Mass Effect Self-Insert genre (a very specific subgenre made famous by stories like Mass Vexations which, in my opinion, is a good story and example of SI done right). That is the line of logic that has lead me to. ![]() Because where would the fun be in us reading something good? You want frustration, confusion, the itty gritty bits that make up this site and its most memorable moments. Victoria, Harry Potter and Rationality to name just two, nobody ever looks for something good. You know, many people when they make these kind of big let's read stories, tend to go for really big or really bad. ![]()
